After five years as editor of the Melling Chronicle, Marie Baker is stepping down, for reasons of ill-health.
During these years, Marie established a clear and attractive page format, contributing some of her own photos, notably including the barn owls in this issue and in September’s! Marie worked to consistent copy deadlines, enabling delivery of each month’s issue several days before the end of the previous month.
After the changeover to a specialised company for the printing of the Chronicle, Marie ensured that fully formatted copy, filling a 20, 24 or 28 page edition, was sent to the printers on schedule.
The Chronicle is delivered to houses throughout Melling, Wrayton and Wennington, and copies are available in Tunstall and Hornby. To ensure this, Marie efficiently organised a team of volunteers.
We are extremely grateful to Marie for all her work in enabling the Chronicle to play its part in the life of our community.
This October 2019 edition has been edited by Anthea Carter, with the assistance of Sandra Towers and our parish clerk, Gill Mason. The parish council will be considering the future editorial structure of the Chronicle at its meeting on 26 September.
The parish council’s intention is to continue the production and distribution of a monthly Chronicle, in paper format, and to develop the paper Chronicle and the village website so that residents are encouraged to consult, read – and contribute to! – both of these vital expressions of our community.
