What a joy !

A Wedding at long last !

A couple with deep local connections smiling so wonderfully as they came down the aisle, surrounded by family and friends, with confetti, bells, fantastic flowers, even sunshine and a choir from Bentham Primary School, absolutely wonderful. I wish the new Mr and Mrs Cadman a very long and happy marriage.

In a world of national and international division, despondency and grief, some things bring joy and unity, dispelling the murk, misery and uncertainty, making you think "yes, it is all worth it".

Events like this of course don’t just happen. The families concerned spend a lot of time and effort to make the perfect day but the church isn’t just open one day a year; God’s house is open 365 days a year and the building and grounds need to be maintained. Unlike other churches we have a team of volunteers who help clean the church, provide flowers for every Sunday service and mow the grass (and many thanks are due to them) but every year we hold a special day to concentrate effort on the churchyard. This year, our Churchyard Tidy Up Day will be Saturday September 14th. There will be two parts, 10 -12:00 and 14:00 – 16:00. We will be cutting back shrubs 7 hedges, edging the paths, trimming the edges around gravestones. Everyone welcome.
