We held our coffee morning on the morning of a thoroughly miserable June 8th with around 40 braving the weather during the course of the morning. It was another of those rare opportunities for village residents to meet up and have a chat which was great and we raised some more funds (£400) for the benefit of the Church. However the whole event was tinged with considerable sadness as the oldest member of the church congregation was missing and we will feel his loss for a long time to come.
Harold White was the very soul of St Wilfrid's Church congregation who did so much for a variety of our village and wider community interests over many, many years. Below is an expansive obituary but the number and diversity of people attending his funeral demonstrated the warmth and respect in which he was held by all.
